Christmas is a few weeks away and already the party season has started.    Our skin is going to be tested to its limit during the festive season with the canapés, cocktails, large meals and don’t forget all the stress of Christmas shopping.   So how is your skin going to get through the holidays without so much as a pimple?  Here are my seven ‘go to’ tips on how to keep that skin glowing beautifully throughout the season.

1. Exfoliate

Exfoliation is my number one secret to a instant glowing skin. So on the day of your party mix a skin scrub with your cleanser and massage gently over the face, neck and décolleté.  Take time doing this and gently keep the massage going for several minutes.  Then whisk it all off with a facecloth rinsed out in lukewarm water. Voila, a smoother, younger, fresher, glowing skin.

2. Face Mask

On the lead up to your night out try this for a few days. Double cleanse skin, do a skin scrub or exfoliation and now apply a nourishing and rejuvenating face mask.   Leave the mask on overnight for a few nights and sleep with it on for maximum benefit.  This is a go-to tip after the parties to enable skin to recover.

Say you have been working all day and it’s your Christmas Party night out…. cleanse the skin, apply a mask onto the face, neck and décolleté, put double moisturiser onto lips, put cotton pads soaked in ice cold water over the eye and have a little nap for thirty minutes.

3. Makeup

Don’t ever go to bed without taking your make up off! Do you want to wake up with pimples? Do you want to wake up with a red, itchy skin?   Do you want to wake up with blotches all over your skin?  No way Jose! Therefore have the face & eye make up remover next to your bedside table together with cotton pads and cleanse until the pads come away clean.

4. Moisturise

We all know that drinking alcohol makes skin drier and you have to compensate by applying more moisturiser than usual. So think about a facial oil moisturiser or apply double moisturiser which will replace lost hydration and do this day and night during the festive season.

5. Feed Your Skin

Get the juicer out and mix carrot, celery, apple and ginger for a super antioxidant drink that is going to feed, nourish and protect your skin from the inside.  Once you get into the habit, you’ll love juicing and realise how good you are being to your skin and body health.

6. Relax

Run a bath, put in Epsom salts, add a few drops of Lavender essential oil.  Apply baby oil to your skin before stepping into the bath.  Put some chill out music on and relax for 15 minutes.   Once out apply some of your favourite body lotion.  Your skin is going to feel soft and you have given yourself a treat.  Try to do this a couple of times a week during this busy time.

7. Water

My final go to secret for a glowing, hydrated, fresher skin is simply …….water!  Drinks lots of this good stuff.
